For Cyber Security Professionals, CompTIA, one of the most dominant players in the industry, offers a variety of certifications. One such category has been selected, and that is cybersecurity certifications. CompTIA Network protection Examiner (CySA+) As cybercrime builds, the prerequisite for exceptionally talented data security experts will keep on expanding also. Information security analysts are expected to grow at the fastest rate of all occupations between 2016 and 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

One of the more current augmentations to the CompTIA certificate portfolio is the Online protection Investigator (CySA+) confirmation. The CySA+ credential was created with the intention of meeting the ever-increasing demand for qualified, experienced information security analysts. CySA+ credential holders are well-versed in securing applications and systems from risks, threats, and other vulnerabilities by utilizing data and behavioral analytics, as well as system threat-detection tools. CySA+ certification holders not only have the ability to monitor the behavior of the network, but they can also analyze the results and come up with ways to better protect against advanced persistent threats (APTs), intrusions, malware, and other types of threats.

CySA+ is referred to by CompTIA as a bridge certification between the master-level Advanced Security Practitioner Certification (CASP), which requires ten years of experience, and the Security+ credential, which requires two years of experience. Candidates must pass a performance-based exam to earn a CySA+.

The highly sought-after CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner+ (CASP+) certification is unquestionably a master-level credential, as Learn CompTIA no longer uses the “master” designation. CASP is the only performance-based, hands-on certification that CompTIA currently offers for practitioners. This certification is for experienced IT security professionals who plan, design, and implement enterprise-level security solutions.

Although the Network+ and Security+ certifications are recommended prior to taking the CASP exam, this certification does not require any specific prerequisites. This certification is considered a “master” credential because it requires at least five years of technical security experience in addition to ten years of IT administration experience. Some positions at Booz Allen Hamilton, Network Solutions, and Verizon Connect necessitate CASP+ certification. CASP+ is also accepted by the U.S. Army and Navy as an industry-based certification for contractors and employees who do IT work in DoD data centers. Candidates must pass the CAS-003 exam, which has 90 multiple-choice and performance-based questions, in order to earn the CASP+ certification.

CompTIA PenTest+ The most current expansion to the CompTIA certificate family is the CompTIA PenTest+. PenTest+ is an intermediate credential designed to complement CySA+.

The PenTest+ credential is offensive because it emphasizes the use of penetration testing to identify and manage network vulnerabilities across multiple spectra, whereas CySA+ is defensive and focuses on threat detection and response. Although Network+ and Security+ (or equivalent skills) are highly recommended, as is a minimum of two years of experience in information security, there are no mandatory prerequisites.

The PenTest+ or CySA+ credentials can be taken in any order by candidates interested in a career in cybersecurity. The exam, which was made available in July 2018, focuses on results communication and reporting, data analysis, penetration testing and scanning, and assessment planning. A candidate’s understanding of legal and compliance requirements is also tested on the exam.
