Instead of just following what the “experts” tell you is right, you choose and do what is right for you. Instead of making policies and structures the most important thing, you know all of the employees’ individual and collective strengths and proactively use them to increase success.

You create and invent. Instead of sticking to the status quo or doing what has worked in the past, your company is focused on the future and curious about how it can make use of it.

Instead of simply issuing orders and being the only voice that is heard, you actively engage everyone to bring their expertise to the table and acknowledge that everyone has something to contribute. Instead of just hanging them on the wall or not knowing what they are, you are aware of the values that are driving your business and are living them.

Instead of having fixed viewpoints and searching for “the answer” or trying to get it right, you constantly ask questions to open up more possibilities. Instead of focusing solely on money, you consider the value and contribution your company makes to its customers, employees, and community, as well as its profitability. The first two statements in each point describe a company that is consciously creating itself, while the third describes a company that relies on scarcity and conclusions.

There is a great deal of discussion about the technical aspects of business at startup conferences and networking events. You’ll more than once hear similar inquiries in some cases posed apparently from reflex: ” What is the potential of the market?”; How do you make money?”; Which series are you participating in? or on the other hand “How enormous is your client base?”.
